Police Log: Car 'Walks' Away & Various Assaults
Information about the following incidents was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Dec. 11
12:31 p.m. – Police went to Plum Point Road near Nautilus Drive on a report of wires down and found a utility pole had been severed with utility lines on the ground on Nautilus Drive and residents there had lost power. The man who reported the incident had been unloading an excavator at vacant property he owns on the street. He was storing the excavator there, which is owned by his company. His primary residence on Albatross Drive backs up to the Nautilus Drive property. According to neighbors, the man had been storing debris on the lot as well. The building inspector issued the man a "stop work" order for having "excessive debris" and "commercial equipment in a residential area."
9:03 p.m. – Police arrested Jennifer A. Lahoud, 44, of Rolling Hill Road, Portsmouth, for disorderly conduct after she became argumentative with police after a fight with her boyfriend. The couple had been staying at the Wickford Motor Inn. Lahoud appeared to be drunk and the manager of the motel wanted her removed, but she became belligerent when police asked if she had a place to go. Finally, they arrested her, processed her at the station, then took her to South County Hospital. The motel manager asked that a no-trespass order by given to Lahoud.

Thursday, Dec.12
9:45 a.m. – The NKHS assistant principal told police a thermostat was missing from one of the classrooms. The teacher who uses that classroom said it had been there on Tuesday. She hadn't been in the room Wednesday then noticed it missing Thursday morning. She said she was certain she had locked the classroom door. The custodial staff said they did not remove the thermostat.

5:37 p.m. – Police arrested Sherry Jones, 43, of Breezy Lake Drive, Coventry, for shoplifting at Kohl's. According to the report, a Kohl's employee noticed Jones concealing pieces of jewelry she'd picked up under her sweatshirt, then she walked out of the store without paying for the items. She admitted to taking items, was processed at the station and released with a district court summons.
11 p.m. – A Knollwood Circle woman told police her brother (of the same residence) had punched a Cranston man in the face and taken some of his money. The Cranston man said he did not want to press charges but the woman said she did not want her brother at the Knollwood house any more.
Friday, Dec. 13
8:25 a.m. – A Pendar Road resident told police his car went missing overnight. A state police trooper found the car in a nature preserve at the end of Stony Lane in Exeter. The car had been driven on a walking trail off the main dirt trail, over rocks, damaging the undercarriage of the car.Â
9:14 p.m. – Police arrested Jason J. Prosser, 24, of Mourning Dove Drive, for driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a breath test after he was involved in an accident at the Route 403 east exit at Post Road. According to the report, police noticed Prosser's breath smelled of alcohol. After he failed a field sobriety test, he was taken into custody and processed at the station. There he declined to take a chemical breath test. He was released with a court summons and a citation for refusing the breath test.Â
Saturday, Dec. 14
5:02 a.m. – Police arrested Christopher C. Olivier, 25, of Pendar Road, for domestic assault and disorderly conduct after he allegedly hurt his girlfriend. The girlfriend, with whom Olivier lives, had told him not to come home after he left earlier in the morning because she feared he was going to get drugs. When he returned, according to the report, she would not let him in so he forced his way in then proceeded to wrestle her and throw her around. Olivier said he had held his girlfriend down to keep her from striking him and that he had not sustained injuries. The woman did have various red marks on her body and a bloody hand. Olivier was taken into custody and held because he was a probation violator.
2:48 p.m. – A North Kingstown man handed over to police an American Express gift card worth $1,000 that he'd found at the Hess gas station on Boston Neck Road. Police checked the value of the card, which was $24.44. The name on the back of the card was written in cursive and could not be deciphered.Â
Sunday, Dec. 15
10:33 a.m. – Residents of Johnson Avenue told police someone had cut the Christmas lights on their fence in several places while they were out of town.
1:27 p.m. – Police arrested Anthony Louis Caraman, 28, of South County Trail, Exeter, for shoplifting and three outstanding warrants after he allegedly stole a speaker from Walmart on Ten Rod Road. According to the report, a Walmart employee saw Caraman cut a speaker from its packaging and leave the store without paying for it. Walmart staff approached Caraman in the parking lot and he handed over the speaker then fled on foot into the woods. Police found him, took him to the station for processing and he was arraigned before a justice of the peace. Because of his outstanding warrants, Caraman was taken to the ACI.
8:48 p.m. – Police arrested Ryan H. Arnold, 20, of Homestead Road, on a 4th District Court bench warrant after he was pulled over while driving on Post Road near Essex Road because of one of his side headlights was out. Routine checks turned up the warrant. Police took Arnold into custody. He was processed at the station and released on bail.Â
