Police Log: Unneighborly Behavior & A Heavy Haul
Information about the following incidents was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, Aug. 25
1:45 p.m. – A Laurel Ridge Lane resident told police someone threw eggs at his house, tearing a second-floor window screen.
10:54 p.m. – A Wakefield woman told police someone driving a "large, dark-colored pickup truck" rear-ended her while she was stopped on West Allenton Road at Route 4. The driver had hit her, then backed up, turned around and drove way in the opposite direction.Â

11:45 p.m. – Police arrested Stephen l. Matteson, 31, of Dyer Avenue, for disorderly conduct after he allegedly yelled a threatening comment at his neighbors. The police had been called to his house 20 minutes earlier and at that time, he told police he thought his neighbors had been the ones to report him. When police were called a second time, Matteson told them, "They called on me so I yelled at them!" He was held for court Tuesday morning because he was on probation. Â

1:28 p.m. – Providence police arrested Jeffrey Andrew Mooney, 43, of Charles Street in Providence, on a warrant for making crank or obscene phone calls to a North Kingstown woman. NK police picked up Mooney and he was booked at the NKPD, then released with a District Court summons.
5:21 p.m. – Police cited three men for soliciting in the Birchwood Drive area without a permit. They were working for R.I. Home Improvement.
Wednesday, Aug. 28
12:38 p.m. – A real estate agent told police he'd had a sign stolen from in front of 52 Thornton Way, and then had a second sign laid down so it could not be viewed by passersby.
Thursday, Aug. 29
10:49 a.m. – A Boston Neck Road resident told police someone stole a cast iron stove filled with flowers that was on her front lawn sometime between 3 p.m. Aug. 27 and 3 p.m. Aug. 28. The woman said the stove weighted 200 to 300 pounds.Â
4:48 p.m. – A Dale Hill Drive resident told police her grandson was approached by a man driving a red pickup truck while the boy was walking on Glen Hill Drive. The boy told police the man yelled, "Hey kid!" unnerving the boy, who took off running. The man was white, in his late 40s or early 50s, with brown hair and a goatee.Â
