With the goal of giving young ladies who are in need a helping hand with their prom season preparations, an annual prom dress giveaway will take place on Tuesday, April 9th 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at the Mind and Body Studios, 100 Factory St., West Warwick, RI.
The dresses will be given out on the “no questions asked” basis, to anyone who can't afford to buy one of their own. Also, although this event is being held in West Warwick, those from neighboring communities, and all over Rhode Island are welcome to attend.
The organizers are also accepting donations during the event and have a specific need for jewelry donations.

I recently asked event founder Kelly Carlini how the now 4 year old event first began, she tells me:
“Several years ago I realized that there wasn't a prom dress giveaway servicing the needs of Kent County kids and decided it was time that there was one. I asked my friend Mary Bradshaw of the Mind and Body Studios if she would like to partner up for it and use her Zumba studio - she said absolutely and we're now in our 4th year. We have several hundred dresses, loads of shoes and every year we help 50-75 young ladies find dresses.”
