Spring Fair Celebration and Opening Day at the Gilbert Stuart Museum

The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum is holding a Spring Fair. The museum is at 815 Gilbert Stuart Road, Saunderstown, 02874.

The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum, Saunderstown, is hosting its annual Spring Fair on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 1:00-4:00 pm. Join us for a fun-filled afternoon as we celebrate the beginning of our 2017 season and the opening of the first exhibition of the season featuring the work of Professor Herbert Cross, a Rhode Island-born artist who was instrumental in the founding of the Gilbert Stuart Museum.

Attractions at the Spring Fair include a “Fish on the Run” presentation by DEM biologists while watching the return of the river herring on an underwater camera, observing our miller grinding corn in the historic gristmill, taking a self-guided tour of the Stuart Birthplace, tasting traditional johnnycakes, and enjoying live music by Farm Dog. Participate in activities that are fun for the whole family, meet Gilbert Stuart (a living history presentation), create your own fish print, explore the nature trail, see spinning, weaving, and rug hooking demonstrations, and more.
