State Police Charge 2 North Kingstown Men With DUI

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — State Police charged two North Kingstown men with driving under the influence in separate early morning traffic stops. Both arrests were made out the Wickford Barracks.

State Police charged Matthew Smith, 29, after they said his blood-alcohol tested more than twice the legal limit in a second offense. Police said Smith was charged with DUI with a BAC greater than .15 second offense and driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop on Davisville Road in East Greenwich at about 3 a.m.

Smith was taken to the Wickford Barracks, processed and held pending an arraignment as a probation violator.

Police charged Trent Colford Jr., 22, with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs and failure to submit to a chemical test after a stop on Road 4 in East Greenwich about 2:30 a.m. Colford was taken to the Wickford Barracks, processed, arraigned and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
