We Support Passage of Question 4

The North Kingstown Asset Management Commission encourages voters to "Vote Yes on 4" on Tuesday, November 6th.

We, members of the North Kingstown Asset Management Commission, are writing to express our wholehearted support for the passage of the local ballot question number 4.

If approved, this funding will support both school and town facilities each receiving $13.5 million to support their facility improvements. On the school side the largest components for these bond proceeds are the renovation and installation of a synthetic turf playing surface at the high school’s Community Athletic Complex ($3.0 million); air conditioning on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the high school ($2.8 million); new windows and doors at Davisville middle school ($2.6 million); and new floor coverings for other facilities throughout the district ($2.4 million). On the town side: $5.0 million is allocated to restore the historic town hall; $1.8 million will be used to catch up on road works improvements; $1.7 million will be used for state-mandated closure of the two landfills located at Hamilton Allenton Road and Oak Hill Road; $4.0 million for facility upgrade to town buildings and $0.8 million for improvements to Wilson Park and the Beach Campus.

As a group, we believe that North Kingstown residents deserve first class facilities. Town and school properties have accrued a substantial amount of deferred maintenance and passage of this question will provide the appropriate amount of funding to make necessary improvements. We cannot change what has occurred in the past, but we can certainly affect how we move on from here. With this, we ask that you vote “Yes” on number 4 on Tuesday, November 6th.

We also encourage you to attend the community information session on Tuesday, October 16th at 7:00 pm at the NKHS Auditorium, where both school and town officials will be available to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Edward J Cooney, Jr., Chair & Members of the North Kingstown Asset Management Commission
