NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A weight restriction begins Friday on the Davisville Bridge in North Kingstown to help protect a fabrication defect in its concrete box beam structure. The 2-ton restriction is on the bridge that carries Devil's Foot Road over Amtrak's Northeast Corridor.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said the restriction is "out of an abundance of cation" and will remain in effect until the extent of the work necessary to repair the bridge is determined and repairs are scheduled.
The detour for trucks and other large vehicles that exceed the limit will utilize School Street to Post Road to Frenchtown Road. Route 403 is another alternate route.
