West Bay Community Theater Launches Crowdfunding Effort.

With a goal of raising the funds needed to achieve 501(c)3 status.

The West Bay Community Theater is a non-profit start-up theater group that is currently in the process of establishing their non-profit credentials. With the costs related to filing the required non-profit and 501(c)3 paperwork being around $600, the group has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising enough funds needed to file for legal non-profit and 501(c)3 status. Being a 501(c)3 will allow the group to seek grant funding from organizations such as The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA), as well as will make any private and business donations made to the group tax deductible.

While the idea for The West Bay Community Theater is still in the very early start-up phases, or as founder Terry Shea tells me “We're starting from zero. no assets, no capital”, they were able to finalize the executive board at their last meeting, as well as officially decide the the name.

With plans to reach out to people who were part of the now long defunct North Kingstown Players, as well as alumni of The Academy Players of East Greenwich, the group seems to already getting a warm and positive reception from the community.
