Boat Sinks During Portsmouth Aquapalooza

Portsmouth police said another boater helped tow the sunken vessel to shore.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A boat sank in the water off of Portsmouth on Saturday during the annual Aquapalooza festival. Portsmouth police said no one was injured and no charges were filed.

According to police, the boat started taking on water through a rack in the transom. Another boater helped tow the vessel to shore, then Colt State Park in Bristol. Video posted by WPRI shows the Harbormaster arriving to help the capsized vessel.

No one was injured and no charges were filed, Portsmouth Detective Lieutenant John Cahoon said in a statement.

"[It was] just a coincidence that this took place during Aquapalooza," Cahoon added.

The annual festival at Potter's Cove brings together boaters and boating enthusiasts.
