Cabaret For Kate Set For Feb. 24

Kate Grana, who died in 2016, taught music at Portsmouth Middle School and at Portsmouth High. An arts association has been named after her.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A one-night show, Cabaret for Kate, is set for Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at Portsmouth High. Tickets, which will be sold at the door, cost $15 for the general public but $10 for students. The show, according to Sheli Beck Silveria, "features a lot of local favorites including professional performers and students at grade levels High School to Elementary."

The program is named for Kate Grana, a Bristol resident, who taught music in the Portsmouth school district for 32 years. The Kate Grana Music & Arts Association will also bear her name. It's been formed to raise money for renovating the high school auditorium and music suite.

"Cabaret for Kate is the launching event for this association," Silveria said.
