Donations Needed For Portsmouth High School After-Prom Party
The party is aimed at keeping students drug- and alcohol-free on prom night while offering hours of fun and prizes.
PORTSMOUTH, RI — With prom season fast approaching, the parents of Portsmouth High School are asking for the public's help in funding this year's after-prom party. Aimed at keeping kids away from drunken driving and other dangers during one of the most dangerous seasons for teens drivers, the party offers teens a way to have fun with their friends after prom while staying safe.
Daniela Abuisi, one of the event's organizers, said the Parents Helping Students Organization relies entirely on donations from parents, local businesses and community members to fund the event.
"Our goal is to provide activities, food, and prizes that will encourage them to stay until the end," Abuisi said. "It's a great way to make some lasting memories as these seniors graduate Portsmouth High School."

This year's prom will be held on June 5, with the afterparty at Glen Manor House. A series of raffles will be held over the course of the night, each with a larger prize than the last, with a grand prize drawing around 2 a.m. Students must be present to take part in the raffles, encouraging them to stay for the whole night. There will also be food and drinks as well as a photo booth, games and othe entertainment throughout the night.
Local businesses are encouraged to donate gift certificates, tickets or other items to be used as door prizes and in raffles, and monetary donations are welcome from any members of the community. All donations are tax-deductible. To make a gift, mail a check payable to PHSO Post Prom to:
