Downed Trees & Power Lines: SK, Cranston & Portsmouth
A Portsmouth police officer, directing traffic away from a downed tree limb, escaped injury when a second limb dropped on his car.

PORTSMOUTH, RI— The wind took down trees and power lines in several communities Thursday night. A tree topped on a house in Cranston. A Portsmouth police officer escaped injury when a limb fell on top of his car. He had been directing traffic away from another big tree limb in the road when the second one came down.
In Cranston, the fire department went to Wayland Avenue for a tree that fell on a two-story house.

The Union Fire District, which covers South Kingstown, said many power lines in its area had been downed.
