Drunken Driver Swerves Off Portsmouth Road, Hitting Guard Rail
Leslie Lord swerved off the road near Route 24 North on Wednesday afternoon, hitting a guard rail.

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- A Tiverton woman was charged with driving under the influence Wednesday afternoon after crashing into a guard rail near Raytheon in Portsmouth.
According to Portsmouth police, Leslie Lord, 41, swerved off the road near Route 24 North and Freeborn Street just before 3 p.m., hitting a guard rail.
Police say Lord failed field sobriety tests and a preliminary breathalyzer test. She was charged with suspicion of DUI and refusal to take a chemical test. As a precaution, Lord was taken to the hospital and later released.

Lord was arraigned by a justice of the peace at Portsmouth police headquarters and was then released.
