East Bay Community Action Program Welcomes RWU Student Intern
Caitlin Kelley of Portsmouth, RI Joins EBCAP Public Relations Team to Plan Annual Event

Caitlin Kelley, a junior at Roger Williams University, has joined East Bay Community Action Program’s Development and Public Relations Department as an intern for the spring 2018 semester. Kelley will help the Public Relations department at EBCAP with the planning of its 15th Annual Seaside Gala.
Some of Kelley’s duties will include updating the event’s auction website, calling/ sending letters to various restaurants and businesses to inquire about donations, updating previous databases with the most accurate information being used for this year’s event, and developing a special fundraising component for the Gala.
Kelley is working towards receiving a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, with a minor in Psychology. She gained fundraising experience as she completed her senior project at Portsmouth High School by planning and coordinating a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in which she raised over $800. In this project she collected donations from local businesses for an array of raffle baskets and organized “Minute to Win It” inspired games for participants to play throughout the event. She also brings prior work experience as a former hostess at The Mooring Seafood Kitchen and Bar in Newport RI and a teacher at the Island Day Care Center in Bristol RI, and is the current Vice President of the American Advertising Federation, RWU Chapter.

Maggie Laurianno, Event Coordinator and Kelley’s supervisor, said “Caitlin’s experience in her past professions has helped her to develop communication skills, time management skills and a strong work ethic, which makes her transition into the public relations department at EBCAP very smooth. And the experience she gained raising funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital really set her apart.”
Caitlin is a 20 year resident of Portsmouth Rhode Island, and the daughter of Fred and Michelle Kelley, also of Portsmouth.
