Generous Donor Prompts Expansion of Aquidneck Island Kids Art Contest, Increase in Prizes
The Aquidneck Land Trust got a big boost from a donor to extend the deadline and open up its 25th Anniversary Art Contest.
The deadline for entries to the Aquidneck Land Trust’s 25th Anniversary Art Contest contest has been extended, the prize amounts have been upped and the contest is now broken up into three age groups.
It’s all thanks to a donor who “loves the idea of tying art to nature and ALT,” the land trust said in a release.
The land trust received a number of excellent submissions from children across Aquidneck Island. The new deadline is now Sept. 11 and the categories will be for high school, middle school and elementary school respectively.

The left over $100 will be awarded to one of the winning students’ schools through a raffle for the purchase of art supplies.

“So much of the work we do is to save this amazing and beautiful Island for future generations. We want to see how the young people of Aquidneck Island view their communities, and what better way than artistically,” the land trust said.
