James Hook Earns Boy Scout's Highest Rank
Court of Honor Recognizes Troop 82's 141st Eagle Scout

In an Eagle Court of Honor, Boy Scout's highest rank was bestowed upon Portsmouth High School senior James Hook. The September 11, 2016 ceremony, held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church's Parish Hall, was led by Justin Mostert, Troop 82 Scoutmaster Emeritus. The son of Terrence and Kathleen Hook of Portsmouth, James is Troop 82's 141st Eagle Scout.
The culmination of eight years of scouting, James's Eagle Scout Project benefitted St. Mary's Episcopal Church, the sponsor of Portsmouth's Boy Scout Troop 82. James planned and led a group of scouts and volunteers in the renovation of the flooring and carpeting in St. Mary's Thrift Shop. James shared his leadership abilities with his fellow scouts by serving as Troop 82's senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, quartermaster, historian and patrol leader since crossing over from Cub Scouts. In addition to being elected to Boy Scouts National Honor Society, Order of the Arrow, James is also a graduate of National Youth Leadership Training (White Stag) and has had the honor of staffing this prestigious leadership program.
Scouting is not the only benefactor of James's talents. James has volunteered on two mission trips to repair and rebuild homes, a St. Barnabas Catholic Church mission to New Orleans and The Rainbow Network service mission to Nicaragua. James currently is a member of both the Portsmouth High School Varsity Football and Weightlifting teams.
