Mother, 3 Children Rescued From Submerged Vehicle In Portsmouth

Portsmouth police pulled the vehicle from the water after the 30-year-old woman drove into the reservoir.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A woman and three children were rescued from a submerged vehicle in the Lawton Valley Reservoir around 3 p.m. on Friday. According to Portsmouth police, the 30-year-old woman drove the 2007 Toyota Highlander up onto the embankment before driving down into the water.

Three young children were also in the vehicle at the time. All four were taken to the hospital, police said.

The incident is still under investigation by Portsmouth police.
