Newport Restaurant Week Begins Friday

It's a perfect time to check out that restaurant you've been meaning to visit.

More than 50 restaurants in Newport and Bristol Counties are offering up sweet and savory deals for Newport Restaurant Week, which begins Friday March 20 and will run until March 29.

It has been a tough winter for residents and business owners alike, with snow and cold keeping people hunkered down weekend after weekend.

That means this restaurant week is a perfect opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy a few local favorites — or new places — and give the area’s small businesses a financial boost to start the spring season.

“After a long winter, Newport Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity for folks to come out of hibernation and experience the amazing culinary world we have in our own backyard,” said Joe Simone whose restaurant, Simone’s, opened in Warren this past fall. “We are thrilled to participate and excited to give new friends and old a taste of our Mediterranean style of cooking with a local twist.”

Evan Smith, president and CEO of Discover Newport, said it has been a challenging winter for sure and Newport Restaurant week “is the perfect cure for cabin fever and a chance to see what our local talent has been cooking up for the season ahead.”
