Portsmouth Resident To Run '59 For 59': Patch Announcements
In honor of her 59th birthday, Pat Barrett will run 59 miles - the equivalent of two-and-a-quarter marathons.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Most people celebrate their birthday by eating cake, gathering with family or friends or perhaps going on a special outing. One Portsmouth resident plans to take a different approach May 2, running one mile for every year she's been alive.
Pat Barrett will complete "59 for 59" to honor her — you guessed it — 59th birthday. Barrett will start at Independence Park in Bristol, running the length of the 14.5-mile East Back Bike Path and back, twice. To make sure she makes her 59-mile goal, she'll head into Colt State Park to pick up any needed extra steps.
Barrett said she is "grateful for good health and her adventurous spirit." To follow along with her training journey and her run progress, follow her on Instagram at IMGMAPAT.
