PORTSMOUTH, RI — Five people escaped a house fire that started around midnight Tuesday, the police department said. According to officials, the fire department went to 29 Locust Ave. around 12:15 a.m. and found flames shooting from the building. The fire was doused. The state fire marshal has said the cause was accidental.
