PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- A Portsmouth man is facing reckless driving charges after swerving off the road and causing a crash on Wendesday. James Culipher, 47, faces charges of disorderly conduct and reckless driving.
According to the Portsmouth Police Department, Culipher was swearing and making rude gestures at other drivers while driving in the southbound lane of East Main Road. In an attempt to pass several vehicles in front of him, Culipher then swerved off the road near the intersection of Sandy Point Avenue. The photo above shows the tire tracks in the grass just off the pavement. Culipher's vehicle collided with a second vehicle as he attempted to return to the pavement.
Portsmouth Police say the damage to the other vehicle was minor and no injuries were reported.
