Portsmouth Organization Is Crafting For A Good Cause
The public is invited to join the monthly meetings and help knit prostheses for breast cancer patients who have had a mastectomy.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Just in time for breast cancer awareness month, the public is invited to join Stitchery's monthly Crafting for Charity get-togethers. All crafted items will be donated to local organizations that support breast cancers patients and children.
Knitters are asked to help create prostheses for mastectomy patients, while sewers can help make quilts to give to children escaping abusive situations. The prostheses will be donated to Knitted Knockers, while the quilts will go to My Stuff Bags.
The next meeting will be held on Oct. 27 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 14 Potomac Ave. Stitchery's co-owners, Traci Vaspol and Karen Katin, said taking part is a great way to help give back to the community.

"Knitting with us on October 27 is a fantastic way to do something with an immediate impact in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month," Vaspol said. "We have received a very generous donation of several dozen skeins from Berrocco Yarns to get the project started. All knitters are welcome."
"Bring your friends, we will have tea and snack, and we can all use our skills to make a positive impact towards two pretty terrible situations," Katin added.
