PORTSMOUTH, RI — The Portsmouth Police Department will soon have new accident reconstruction equipment, thanks to a grant from the Rhode Island General Assembly. Portsmouth Representatives Dennis Canario and John Edwards delivered the $11,000 grant to the department.

"It is my pleasure to help the department secure an important piece of equipment that will assist in their investigations for many years to come."
The funds will be used to buy a measurement scanning and mapping tool, called a total station, which will allow for accurate measurements at crash scenes. The tool can also be used to map crime scenes, making for more efficient investigations in both cases.
