Portsmouth Police Make Five DUI Arrests Over The Weekend

Portsmouth Police say no alcohol-related crashes happened over the weekend.

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Five people were arrested in Portsmouth over Saint Patrick's Day weekend for drunken driving. Police say no alcohol-related crashes happened during that time.

According to Portsmouth Police, there were 13 calls for erratic driving from Saturday until Monday.

The first arrested happened on East Main Road near Bradley Terrace just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shawn Carroll, 28, of Tiverton was charged with a first-offense DUI with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 or higher.

Just 15 minutes later, Brandon Bailey, 23, of North Kingstown was stopped on Route 24 North near Turnpike Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

A little before 6 p.m., Timothy Cabral, 49, of Swansea, Massachusetts was arrested on Glen Meade Drive. He was charged with first-offense DUI, blood alcohol level unknown and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Rachel Parent, 56, also of Swansea, Massachusetts, was stopped on Turnpike Avenue just after 9 p.m. and refused to take a breathalyzer test. She was charged with a first-offense DUI and refusal to take a chemical test.

The fifth and final arrest was on Sunday around 7 p.m. Heidi Jones, 55, or Portsmouth was arrested on Route 24 South at the Sakonnet River Bridge. Jones was charged with a first-offense DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
