Portsmouth School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Portsmouth is August 30. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Portsmouth School Department has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/29: Teacher PD Day
• 8/30: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/20: Early Release for Students (PD for Staff)

October

• 10/9: No School (Columbus Day)
• 10/18: Early Release for Students (PD for Staff)

November

• 11/2: End of First Quarter
• 11/10: No School (Veterans' Day)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Recess)

December

• 12/13: Early Release for Students (PD for Staff)
• 12/25 - 1/2: No School (Holiday Recess)

January

• 1/1 - 1/2: No School (Holiday Recess)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Day)
• 1/17: Early Release for Students (PD for Staff)
• 1/22: End of Second Quarter

February

• 2/5: No School for Students (Teacher PD Day)
• 2/19 - 2/23: No School (Winter Recess)

March

• 3/21: Early Release for Students (PD for Staff)
• 3/30: No School (Good Friday)

April

• 4/2: No School for Students (Teacher PD Day)

• 5/16: Early Release for Students (PD for Staff)
