Portsmouth School Calendar 2018-19: First Day Of School

PORTSMOUTH, RI — The first day of school in Portsmouth is August 29 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you’ll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Portsmouth School District has released its 2018-2019 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/3: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/12: No School (Statewide Primaries)
• 9/19: 1-Hour Early Release for Students

October

• 10/8: No School (Columbus Day)
• 10/17: 1-Hour Early Release for Students

November

• 11/12: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/21 - 11/23: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/12: 1-Hour Early Release for Students
• 12/24 - 12/31: No School (Holiday Recess)

January

• 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)
• 1/21: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)

February

• 2/13: 1-Hour Early Release for Students
• 2/18 - 2/22: No School (Winter Recess)

March

• 3/29: No School for Students (Teacher Professional Development Day)

April

• 4/10: 1-Hour Early Release for Students
• 4/15 - 4/19: No School (Spring Recess)

May

• 5/15: 1-Hour Early Release for Students
• 5/27: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/7: Portsmouth High School Graduation Day
• 6/14: Last Day of School (without Snow Days)
• 6/21: Last Day of School (with 5 Snow Days)
