Providence Gridiron Club Presents MVP Awards

Recognition went to the best offensive and best defensive player from each of 44 schools.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — The Providence Gridiron Club held its MVP Night on Dec. 13. In front of 270 people in attendance they honored an Offensive and Defensive Player from each of the 44 high schools (including two prep schools) in the state. All in attendance were treated to a 4 course meal of soup, macaroni, chicken and dessert plus coffee.

Jim Fleming, head coach at URI, said a few words to all in attendance stressing the role that competition will play in their future as football players.
