Statehouse Lights Will Blink for 'Good Night Lights' for Hasbro Hospital Patients

Sakonnet's state Rep. Dennis M. Canario asked the state to join the good night ritual for the youngsters at the children's hospital.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Every night at 8:30 p.m., police officers and businesses and groups located across from Hasbro Children's Hospital have blinked their lights for one minute to bid the children good-night. State Rep. Dennis M. Canario (D-Dist. 71, Portsmouth, Little Compton, Tiverton) realized the Statehouse could also participate. He asked the governor and the Department of Administration to consider joining the "Good Night Lights' and Tuesday, he found out the state will participate for three nights, starting Wednesday night.

Sometimes, the children and hospital staff blink their lights back.

“This is truly a heartwarming gesture that so many have become involved in over the past year and I would like to thank Governor Raimondo and her administration for allowing the State House to hopefully brighten the spirits of the children in Hasbro,” Rep. Canario said.
