Two Juvenile Pedestrians Struck By Vehicle In Portsmouth

Portsmouth Police say slippery conditions caused the vehicle to veer into the young women.

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Two young women were struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon while walking across a parking lot off East Main Road.

According to Portsmouth Police, the crash occurred just before 1:30 p.m. on East Main Road, when an 18-year-old woman driving a green Jeep attempted to turn off the road into the parking lot of ACE Hardware. A 32-year-old man driving a silver Jeep behind her attempted to slow down, but lost control of his vehicle due to the slippery conditions. He then slid into the two young women who were walking across the parking lot.

The two victims both reported pain at the scene and were transported to the hospital with what police believe to be non-life-threatening injuries.
