The Week Of The Young Child At Hathaway School

From Portsmouth Schools:The Week of the Young Child offered Hathaway School families a chance to work and play together. Here is a list of events.

Math with Mom – Choice of Math Activities Math with Mom

Planting with Papa – Planting Pansies and sharing Informational Writing, Science Journals, and Reading to their Dads and Grandfathers Planting with Papa

Kindergarten Parade - The children played their instruments, held their signs, marched, and with a smile waved to everyone. Kindergarten Parade

Show and Tell - The children found an opportunity to share with classmates something special to him/her. In addition to feeling excited, proud, etc. about his/her item, many reading and language arts objectives are addressed. It is important to learn how to be an appropriate audience member. It is very hard not to interrupt the speaker, talk to your neighbor, or get distracted by various other things going on in the room. We work on these skill throughout the year as well.
