Weekend Agenda: Live Music, Island-Wide Yard Sale and More

Learn about culture, food and community in Portsmouth this weekend with a sampling of the many events this close-knit community has to offer.

1. Enjoy an evening of music with The Kane Brothers, Phil & Buddy. The pair will be performing at the Valley Inn, located at 2221 West Main Road, on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.  The brothers will play favorite tunes ranging from soft classic rock to folk and country. 

2. Balfour Beatty Communities will be hosting a community wide yard sale this Saturday, July 20, rain or shine.  The yard sales will take place throughout the communities of Greene Lane and Coddington Cove in Middletown; Melville Housing in Portsmouth; & Ft. Adams, Hart Field, and Farragut Field located in Newport.  The yard sale will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please contact Kristen Connor at 846-8877 for more details.

3. The 45th Annual Eastern Rhode Island 4-H Country Fair at the Glen in Portsmouth this Weekend. The family-friendly activities include dozens of games, performances and contests that are sure to delight children and parents of all ages. The fair runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21.

4. On Saturday July 20th, the Portsmouth Youth Football Association will be holding a walk-in registration and equipment fitting day for cheerleading, from 1- 3 p.m. at the Aquidneck Island Christian Academy on East Main Road in Portsmouth. Required paperwork will also be accepted on this day.

Portsmouth Pop Warner Cheerleading is open to anyone between the ages of 5-15 as of July 31st!  Get the word out and tell your friends and neighbors!

5. St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth is hosting a Golf Ball Drop on Sunday, July 21 at 1 p.m. on the church grounds. Golf balls are only $5 each or 5 for $20.  YOU MUST PURCHASE your golf ball numbers by Friday, July 19th.  First Prize is $500, 2nd - 6th prizes of $100 each.
