Woman Charged With DUI With 8-Year-Old Child In Car: Police
Rebecca Cottle was charged with driving under the influence, police said.

PORTSMOUTH, RI—A 32-year-old Tiverton woman was arrested after witnesses told police she nearly rear-ended a driver on East Main Road in Middletown around 1:10 p.m. Thursday. Portsmouth police said they took several 911 calls about an erratic driver headed north in a 2014 Black Chevy Cruze. At one point, she was a wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lanes, police allege. They stopped the car on East Main Road near Lepes Road .
Rebecca Elizabeth Cottle was charged with driving under the influence, second offense; refusal to submit to a chemical test, second offense; and driving after her license was denied, suspended or revoked. She was taken to the police station and booked.
Her son, 8, was riding in the car with her. Police called the Department of Children, Youth and Family about the child.
