2-year-old Girl Pulled From Providence House Fire Dies

PROVIDENCE, RI — The 2-year-old girl who was rushed to Hasbro Children's Hospital after being pulled from a house fire last week has died, Providence police said Wednesday.

Alison Sandoval and her sister, 7-year-old Ashley Sandoval, were found unconscious on the second floor of their home on Lucy Street on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Ashley died from her injuries later that day, while Alison remained in critical condition up until her death on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Approximately 59 firefighters responded to the three-alarm blaze, which spread to two neighboring homes and displaced 14 people. Others were able to get out safely and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
