PROVIDENCE, RI — State police believe they have caught the man who fired at other drivers in connection with two "road rage" incidents in 2017. Anthony Jackson, 24, of Providence, was arrested at his home around 2 p.m. Tuesday. He is charged with:

According to state police, Jackson was implicated in two road rage incidents in 2017. No one was injured in either, but he allegedly fired shots at two other cars.

A man in a red sport utility vehicle allegedly fired several shots around 12:40 p.m. The second time happened on Oct. 29 around 11:45 p.m. The driver, again described as in a red SUV, fired at another car on Route 6 East on-ramp from Plainfield Street.

"The investigation found that the bullets in both shootings were fired by the same weapon – which was recovered as part of an unrelated investigation earlier this year," according to Laura Meade Kirk, state police spokeswoman. The evidence led police to connect Jackson to the gun and the two shootings.

Jackson is being held overnight and will be in district court on Wednesday.
