Bank of America Awards $30K to South County Habitat for Humanity
Bank volunteers join local build project in Exeter to support Habitat's mission

Bank of America has awarded South County Habitat for Humanity a $30,000 grant to help build more affordable housing in southern Rhode Island in 2019. In addition, Bank of America volunteers from Rhode Island helped with the construction of a multi-family home in Exeter on Oct. 8 as part of “Global Build Week,” in which bank employees from around the world partner with local Habitat organizations to improve access to affordable housing.
“The need for affordable housing here in Rhode Island continues to be a huge challenge for many families, with 1 in 7 spending more than 50% of their income on housing costs,” said Colin Penney, Executive Director of South County Habitat. “Our partnership with Bank of America, from both a financial and a volunteer perspective, has made a tremendous impact on our mission of helping local families find a place to call home.”
“Affordable housing is critical for individuals and families as they seek to build independent, stable lives,” said Bill Hatfield, Market President for Bank of America in Rhode Island. “We are proud to support South County Habitat in its mission to provide simple, decent and affordable homes and improve the quality of life for our neighbors in southern Rhode Island.”
