East Providence Man, 56, Killed In Motorcycle Crash On I-95 South

Scott Vickers, crashed his motorcycle after losing control of the vehicle near the Thurber's Avenue overpass, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — An East Providence man was killed in an early morning crash on Interstate 95 South Friday morning, according to Rhode Island State Police. Scott Vickers, 56, crashed his motorcycle after losing control of the vehicle, police said.

The crash happened around 6:20 a.m. in Providence, about 200 feet north of the Thurber's Avenue overpass, police said. Vickers was riding his 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the high-speed lane when he lost control, veering left. He then hit the jersey barrier in the center median, police said, and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Vickers was seriously injured and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a little while later, police said.
