PROVIDENCE, RI — Firefighters responded to a fire in Providence early Wednesday morning that caused significant smoke and water damage to a home on Princeton Ave. in Elmwood, reported NBC 10.

Although the fire department had the flames knocked down in 20 minutes, the fire quickly spread from the basement to all three floors of the house, said fire officials.

Two people escaped the home before firefighters arrived at the scene and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
