Former North Attleboro Man Indicted In Providence Murder Case
Prosecutors say Jason Lopes, 33, fatally stabbed Zackary Marshall in Providence in 2010.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A former North Attleboro man has been indicted for the 2010 murder of Zackary Marshall in Providence, said Attorney General Peter F. Neronha in a news release.
The Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment Friday charging Jason Lopes, 33, with the fatal stabbing of Marshall on Peck St. in Providence on Dec. 18, 2010.
"The indictment in this case is a major step forward in our efforts to obtain justice for Mr. Marshall and his family," said Neronha in a statement. "Ten years is a long time, and I recognize how difficult it has been for the family of Mr. Marshall to wait for this day to come."

"There is a distance on road to justice still to travel, but I am pleased that we have reached this point," he continued. "I am grateful to the family for their patience, and to the Providence Police Department, whose persistence, in partnership with this Office, has brought us to this place today."
Neronha said Lopes was arrested last week in Garland, Texas after warrant was issued for his arrest. He is currently being held in Texas and awaiting extradition back to Rhode Island.
