Hospital Deal Could Be In the Works
Care New England is still looking for a buyer and has signed an exclusive pact to negotiate with Massachusetts based Partners Health Care.

PROVIDENCE, RI—Care New England operates Kent Hospital in Warwick; Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island in Providence; the VNA of Care New England, based in Warwick; Butler Hospital in Providence; The Providence Center in several Rhode Island locations; and Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket. The Board of Directors on Wednesday said it plans to sell Memorial to Prime Healthcare Foundation. Prime is based in Canada but now runs Landmark in Woonsocket and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island, in North Smithfield. Meanwhile, Care New England will explore joining Partners HealthCare of Massachusetts.
Both deals would be subject to regulatory approval.
Earlier this week, Care New England said its board has signed a Letter of Intent and agreed to negotiate exclusively with Partners for its other hospitals, including Butler and Woman and Infants.
