Oak Hill Center Residents & Staff Get Vaccinated
Number of Consented Residents Outweigh Non-Consented

On Monday, December 28th, 54 residents and 28 staff members at Oak Hill Center on Pleasant Street in Pawtucket received Pfizer's first dose of its COVID-19 vaccine, by way of Walgreen's. That's a little over half of the number of residents currently at the facility and only four have declined the vaccine.

The numbers for both staff and residents at Oak Hill Center are not uncommon from other long-term care and rehabilitation facilities throughout the country since many staff members, families and residents hesitate since the vaccine is so new.

According to John Fredette, the Administrator at Oak Hill Center, says "it's a mix, on one hand you have a number of staff who are currently undecided at this time and on the other hand, there are those who couldn't get the vaccine due to the wait time for them to be COVID negative."

Fredette says twenty more people have signed up to receive the vaccine when Walgreen's returns in three weeks as others who received their initial vaccination will get their second dosage.
No major adverse reaction to the December 28 vaccination, according to Oak Hill Center.
