Painting Class Brings Residents Together at Oak Hill Center
With Zoom Painting and In-Person One-on-One, Residents Learn a Great Deal

Residents at Oak Hill Center, the 129-bed nursing home and rehabilitation facility on Pleasant Street in Pawtucket, have started taking part in a facility-wide painting class. This painting class marks one of the first "together" activities since the pre-COVID pandemic days before March 2020. It all began with a Zoom painting classes during National Nursing Home Week in May.

The classes are taught by Christena Marie Richard, the daughter of Oak Hill Center's Recreation Director DeLaina Richard and the classes are loved by the residents who take part. According DeLaina, the classes have gained so much popularity that families of the residents are so excited to see what their loved one has created.

"When you see what the residents can do, it is truly amazing because it's a combination of learning and having that creative talent," said Delaina Richard. "With Zoom technology, it has been incredible with these classes."
