PROVIDENCE, RI — If you're missing Providence's winter ice bumper cars, now you have another chance. On Wednesday nights, the bumper cars are back at the Alex and Ani City Center in downtown Providence, without the signature ice, of course.

Instead of sitting on top of the ice rink like they do in the winter, the bumper cars now operate on a track, where users can race. Bumper car races are held every Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., part of the Summer Hangout Series. 10-minute rides are available for $7 each, or $35 for six. Kids aged three to five are free.

You must be at least six years old and 42 inches tall to operate a car alone. Younger children between the ages of three and five years old can ride tandem with someone who is at least 16 years old provided the combined weight is not more than 300 pounds.

The circular bumper cars are operated by a pair of joysticks between the operators legs. To go forward, push both joysticks away, and pull them towards you to go back. To turn, pull on just one of the joysticks.
