PROVIDENCE, RI — Route 6 will be closing for overnight demolition work on June 20 and 21. From midnight to 5 a.m., the road will be closed near the Hartford Avenue exit while crews work to demolish the Woonasquatucket River Bridge.

The eastbound lane will close on June 20 and the westbound lanes will close the following night. Overnight hours were chosen for the closure to minimize backups in the high-traffic area.

On June 20, eastbound lanes of the highway will close at the Killingly Street exit. Traffic will be detoured around the work zone along Hartford Avenue before returning to the highway.
