'The City of Providence wholeheartedly supports this legislation and what it means for our community.'

April 6, 2021

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — “The City of Providence and its constituents have made it clear that addressing the climate crisis is a priority, but we cannot act alone,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “State and federal action are imperative. We have a tremendous opportunity before us to make substantial progress and create a comprehensive policy framework that moves us towards a healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable future for all Rhode Islanders. It is on all of us to ensure that the government is held accountable to deliver on the scientific targets needed to tackle the climate crisis. The City of Providence wholeheartedly supports this legislation and what it means for our community. We strongly encourage both chambers to vote in support and the Governor to subsequently sign the 2021 Act on Climate bill unchanged.”
