Westerly Sex Offender To Serve 10 Years In Child Pornography Case
Investigators say Vincent J. Siravo of Westerly is charged with using a restaurant's Wi-Fi to download child pornography.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A registered sex offender was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday for possessing child pornography, said a news release from the office of Rhode Island District Attorney Aaron L. Weisman.
Vincent J. Siravo, 41, of Westerly, formerly convicted for possessing child pornography in 2008, was arrested on October 16, 2019 by members of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force after using a South Kingstown restaurant's Wi-Fi network to view child pornography, said investigators. Officers found him sitting in his car outside the restaurant with a laptop.
"Siravo, who was uncooperative and provided a false name to law enforcement, was identified through his vehicle registration and determined to be a Level 1 sex offender," said the news release. "A court-authorized forensic review of Siravo’s computer revealed approximately 2,200 video files and approximately 1,600 images depicting child pornography."
