Fatal Crash: Car Plunges Into Pawtuxet River Off I-95 In Warwick

A Nissan left the highway and plunged into the water. Divers extricated Edouard Myto, 45, of Warwick. He was later declared dead.

WARWICK, RI — A Nissan Maxima operated by a Warwick man left the I-95 roadway this morning, crashed through trees, and became submerged in the Pawtuxet River.

The car was southbound in Warwick and 500 feet north of the Airport Connector (Exit 13) when it veered right, traveled across the breakdown lane, entered the woodline, and dove into the river, Rhode Island State Police said today.

Troopers from the Lincoln Barracks responded at around 5:30 a.m. They were joined by members of the Warwick police and fire departments.

Divers from the Warwick Fire Department located the vehicle and extricated Edouard Myto, 45, of Warwick. He was transported by Warwick Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital where he was declared dead.
