Flags Lowered Across RI For Former Warwick Mayor Solomon
RI Gov. Dan McKee said flags will be flown at half-staff to honor the memory of Joseph J. Solomon, Sr., who died this morning.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Governor Dan McKee has directed flags to be flown at half-staff at all Rhode Island state facilities and buildings.
The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment in memory of former Warwick Mayor Joseph Solomon, Sr., who died this morning.
"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of former Warwick Mayor Joe Solomon," said Governor McKee. "We are are devastated to learn of his passing. Joe dedicated much of his life to serving a city he loved. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten."

The Governor asked Rhode Islanders to lower their flags as a sign of respect.
Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi today said he was saddened to hear of Solomon's passing.

"Although our political views differed, I have a great respect for anyone who steps up to the plate, puts their name on the ballot and then serves," Picozzi said. "Joe was a nine-term councilman and the 16th Mayor of the Warwick and this city will honor him. I’ve ordered city flags to be lowered for a period of two weeks. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Solomon family,"
