RI State Police Arrest Providence Fugitive on I-95 In Warwick
A young man wanted for skipping a pre-trial hearing on a larceny charge was arrested by troopers following a St. Patrick's Day traffic stop.

WARWICK, RI — A St. Patrick's Day traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Warwick led to a day in court and an order of restitution for a young man wanted on a larceny charge out of Providence.

Rhode Island State Troopers at around 10 a.m. stopped a vehicle and arrested Manuel Garcia, 19, of 14 Colfax St. in Providence on a bench warrant issued by the Sixth Division District Court in Providence. Garcia in May of 2020 had been charged with larceny of less than $1,500, and court records show he failed to appear for a pre-trial conference in October of that year.

On Wednesday, Garcia was processed at the Wickford Barracks and transported to the Providence courthouse where he entered a plea of nolo contendere to the original larceny charge. He was sentenced to engage in Restitution through Justice Assistance, court records show.
