RIDEM To Host 'Virtual Snake Safari'
If you've ever wanted to learn about snakes in Rhode Island, now's your chance.
Rhode Island is home to 12 species of snakes, according to scientists with the Division of Fish and Wildlife.
Now people who want to learn more about the secretive, scaly creatures are invited to join a fun, interactive virtual program. A wildlife outreach team from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will take participants on a live search for snakes in the wild. Those who log in will learn about snake habitat, the benefits of snakes in the ecosystem, and how to get involved as a reptile and amphibian citizen scientist.
The family-friendly event is hosted by RIDEM and is free to attend. All ages are welcome, but registration is required to receive a Zoom link.
