I just wanted to give you an update on how I am doing. After my amputation I was briefly discharged to a rehabilitation facility for a few days. Unfortunately, it was finally determined that my infected kidney would need to be removed. I returned to the hospital on May 21 to have that surgery. I am still in the hospital today as I have needed additional treatment for some post-surgical infections. I am hoping to be discharged back to a rehabilitation facility by the end of the week. I want to thank everyone who has sent cards and flowers and positive thoughts and prayers as it has all helped me get through this. I'm looking forward to getting back to representing District 30 in our Senate and returning to everything else in my normal life as soon as possible.
